NEW YORK West Coast ferrous scrap exporters struggled to get meaningful sales off the ground last week as Asian consumers stayed clear of higher-priced offers for bulk material.
Most sources in the market reported no bulk sales last week, with just one bulk exporter claiming to have sold two cargoesone to Taiwan and one to South Koreaat prices up $3 per tonne on heavy melting scrap and shred. The source said the cargoes sold at $470 per tonne c.f.r. for shredded steel scrap and $465 per tonne c.f.r. for an 80/20 mix of No. 1 and No. 2 heavy melting scrap.....
