Aluminum orders rise in ‘choppy uptrend’

NEW YORK North American aluminum orders climbed in April after taking a step back the previous month, according to Davenport & Co. LLC data based on seasonally adjusted figures from the Aluminum Association.
Total orders rose 8.3 percent from March, while orders excluding less-cyclical can sheet were up 6.4 percent, the Richmond, Va.-based investment group said. Total orders in the first four months of the year were up 4 percent from the same period last year, while year-to-date orders excluding can sheet were 7 percent higher.....
