NEW YORK — Strong buying by four of the top five offshore consumers of U.S. scrap lifted overall scrap export volumes in March.

Turkey didn’t quite match its February intake of U.S. East Coast scrap, which topped 600,000 tonnes, but the country’s March consumption of 561,934 tonnes was still 76.7 percent ahead of the 317,976 tonnes it bought in March 2011.....
