US slab imports jump 36 percent in March

NEW YORK U.S. steel slab imports jumped 36 percent in March compared with the previous month, led by major increases into the Los Angeles and Columbia-Snake districts, according to data compiled by AMM from USA Trade Online.
Total slab imports in March rose to 724,732 tonnes from 532,869 tonnes in February.
Most of that product was from Brazil, which saw an increase to 355,553 tonnes in March compared with 299,507 tonnes in February. Slab from Russia fell slightly month over month, falling to 133,623 tonnes in March compared with 140,398 tonnes in February. ....
