PHOENIX The copper industry must strive to maintain its market share in the face of technological advances and substitution possibilities, according to this years recipient of the Copper Clubs Ankh Award.
"We have to be attentive," Jürgen Leibbrandt, Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (Codelco) executive vice president for commercial planning and market development, told AMM on the sidelines of the American Copper Councils Copper College in Phoenix. "If we lose market share due to technological developments, we have to develop new markets."
Leibbrandt, who will retire from Codelco June 30, was honored with the Ankh Award for lifetime achievement in recognition of his contributions to the copper industry through the International Copper Association.....
