NEW YORK The tight supply of scrap auto lead batteries in the United States has driven up prices, pushing the value of the lead recovered from the recycled batteries above the value of pure, exchange-traded material.
Old batteries were in a range of 44 to 45 cents per pound Monday, up from 41 to 44 cents previously. Based on industry estimates of about a 50-percent recovery rate, the value of lead recovered from....
