Chinese wire rod imports rising: trader

DALLAS — More wire rod from China has begun arriving at U.S. ports and will continue to do so in the coming months, according to one trader.

"What you haven’t seen here in the last 12 months ... is any wire rod from China. But China is back in the market," said Bernd Neuenkirchen, vice president of wire rod at German steel trader Coutinho & Ferrostaal GmbH & Co., referring to U.S. government import license application data indicating that nearly 22,000 tonnes of wire rod headed to the United States from China in April.
