SA Recycling dismisses Calif. closure rumors

NEW YORK — SA Recycling LLC has dismissed rumors about the possible closure of one of its port facilities in California.
A few market participants told AMM they believed the Orange, Calif.-based recycler was mulling the closure of its Long Beach operation, but top executives at the company denied the rumors, calling them typical market chatter.
Some market participants had speculated that changes at the facility were imminent.
"I have heard from others that SA is shutting down its Long Beach terminal. I am not sure if they plan to sublease or do something else," one source told AMM. "Strategically, having two export facilities for SA Recycling doesn’t make sense, especially paying two port leases and paying two wharfage charges. I think they are shutting it down and possibly subleasing it (because) the overhead is too high."....
