Scrap feels heat of US shredding overcapacity

DALLAS An oversupply of domestic shredding capacity is contributing to the recent trend of "hyper-competition" in the U.S. scrap market, according to Rich Brady, executive vice president of OmniSource Corp.s ferrous commercial group.
"Talking about the returns on this business and these investments, its a very, very competitive environment today. Theres a tremendous amount of capacity," Brady told attendees at the Wire Rod Supply Chain Conference in Dallas sponsored by AMM and the American Wire Producers Association.....
