RG to idle steelmaking plants as it seeks buyer

NEW YORK RG Steel LLC plans to idle its steel production and finishing facilities in Maryland, Ohio and West Virginia starting June 4.
The Sparrows Point, Md.-based steelmaker will idle its steelmaking operations in Sparrows Point, Md., and Warren, Ohio; and finishing operations in Wheeling, W.Va., Martins Ferry, Ohio, and Yorkville, Ohio; as well as roll-formed products operations at Wheeling Corrugating Co., an RG Steel spokeswoman told AMM. The idling will take place over two weeks and is expected to be temporary as the company continues to look for a potential buyer for the assets, she said.
"The sale process is continuing," the spokeswoman said. "We would look to sell some or all of the facilities to another company. That is a possibility."....
