Canadian Pacific, striking workers still at impasse

CHICAGO — Freight service on the Canadian network of Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) remains shut down due to a strike by the Teamsters union.

All shipments from Canada to Canadian or U.S. destinations and all shipments from the United States to Canadian destinations are not moving, according to the Calgary, Alberta-based railroad.

"This unnecessary strike has caused significant impacts on your business and Canada’s economy, and has now resulted in additional layoffs of CP employees whose jobs were directly connected to freight operations," Ian MacKay, vice president of customer services, said in a letter to customers late Thursday.....
