Century to acquire Zalco’s anode facility

NEW YORK Century Aluminum Co. has agreed to purchase the anode production assets of Zeeland Aluminum Co. (Zalco) for 10 million ($12.5 million) in cash through wholly owned subsidiary Century Anodes BV.
The Monterey, Calif.-based aluminum producer plans to spend around $45 million to modernize the curtailed anode facility, located in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, and aims to restart anode production in the third quarter of 2013.....
