NEW YORK Aluminum billet and ingot supply continues to be tight in North America, according to a number of extruders, but just how tight remains up for debate.
"We are finding it extremely tight. I dont know if its related to the LME but there is a continued tightness in North America," Tom Schabel, chief executive officer of Alexandria Extrusions Co., told attendees at the 2nd Annual Aluminum Summit in New York, hosted by AMM.
Duncan Crowdis, president of Bonnell Aluminum, said that his company has not had major issues sourcing billet, mainly because they cast their own, but getting their hands on P1020 and scrap has been another story. ....
