Primary, fabricated metal shipments rise in May

CHICAGO Primary and fabricated metal shipments improved in May after falling in April, and while new orders from primary metals producers fell slightly, both shipments and new orders posted strong year-on-year growth.
The value of primary metal producers shipments rose 3 percent to $30.3 billion in May, not seasonally adjusted, but the nearly $29 billion in new orders fell 1.4 percent from the prior month, according to Census Bureau data.....
