SÃO PAULO, Brazil The global steel industrys future will be shaped by population growth trends, raw materials availability and environmental sustainability, according to World Steel Association director-general Edwin Basson.
The world population will grow until stabilizing at around 9 billion in 2050, Basson told delegates at the 23rd Brazilian Steel Congress in São Paulo. As a result, global steel use will total 2.2 billion to 3 billion tonnes per year,....
