JMC dismisses claim Welland mill might be shut

TORONTO Energex Tubes pipe mill in Welland, Ontario, could be mothballed if new business is not brought in, according to a union official.
But an executive with Chicago-based parent company JMC Steel Group Inc. said he didnt foresee any shutdown.
"If another customer isnt identified for the 8-inch (pipe mill), the remaining shift and workers associated with it will not be required," Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) national representative Doug Orr said in an e-mail to AMM Thursday evening.....
