Iron, steel mill product deficit shrinks in May

CHICAGO — The value of the U.S. trade deficit for iron and steel mill products shrank in May, and while copper remained in surplus, it registered a decline compared with April.

The iron and steel mill product trade deficit was valued at $715 million in May, down 23.5 percent from a $935-million deficit a month earlier, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Wednesday. While the value of imports for the product fell 11.2 percent, export values dropped only 0.3 percent month on month.....
