SBQ demand steady as growth plans progress

CHICAGO Two of the top domestic manufacturers of hot-rolled carbon and alloy bars are still seeing strength among certain U.S. original equipment manufacturing customer groups and are on track to increase production beginning next year.
"Were having a pretty good year. Automotive has been good and capital equipment has been strong," Republic Steel executive vice president Ted Thielens told AMM. "There has been a bit of adjustment with distribution customers and cold finishers," however. "They had bought heavy (last year and into the first quarter) and then were reducing inventory during the second quarter, so their orders are lighter."....
