TORONTO Evraz Plc ran its North American operations at "high utilization levels" in the second quarter, resulting in improved crude steel production even as overall company output dropped on the back of repairs and upgrades in Russia and slack demand in Europe.
The London-listed parent of Chicago-based Evraz North America Inc. said in an operational report released Monday that crude steel production by its North American facilities totaled 620,000 tonnes in the second quarter, up 1.7 percent from the first three months of the year and 3 percent higher than in the second quarter of 2011.....
