Nucor, Nucor-Yamato cut beam prices

LOS ANGELES Nucor Corp.s beam mill in Berkeley, S.C., and the joint-venture Nucor-Yamato Steel Co. operation in Blytheville, Ark., have reduced published prices for wide-flange steel beam sections by $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight) effective immediately in an attempt to remain competitive against a rivals "unpublished discounts," the companies said.
"We will continue to monitor the market and will take all necessary steps to keep you competitive," Andrew Fletcher, beam mill sales manager at Berkeley, wrote in a letter to customers.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor also said it is adjusting its C10 and C8 channel pricing to align with pricing at the Nucor bar mills.....
