NEW YORK — AK Steel Corp. announced a $40-per-ton increase on spot prices for flat-rolled steel products Friday, effective immediately.

The move by the West Chester, Ohio-based steelmaker confirmed market reports earlier in the week that domestic steel producers were considering a second round of price hike announcements....
