CHICAGO — Steel Dynamics Inc.’s leadership remains committed to expanding rolling capacity at its Pittsboro, Ind., mill, which makes special bar quality (SBQ) products.

President and chief executive officer Mark Millett called the SBQ rolling mill expansion "a very compelling project. It hits all the key drivers to our success: increased volume of 325,000 tons, product diversification into smaller bars, supporting customers (and) increasing margins," he told investors this past week.

By expanding Pittsboro’s output, SDI will also be able to boost utilization of its structural and rail mill in Columbia City, Ind., which is capable of supplying 200,000 to 250,000 tons of blooms annually to Pittsboro.....
