Coca-Cola to hike UBC buying by 50%

NEW YORK Coca-Cola Recycling LLC is seeking to boost its used beverage can (UBC) scrap purchasing by at least 50 percent in 2013, leading some traders to forecast further price increases as competition for UBCs mounts, even as others expect to see no change as a result.
A spokesman confirmed to AMM that the Atlanta-based company is on a recruitment drive for managers in the UBC-purchasing sector as it upgrades its scrap targets.
"There are presently six people on the UBC team. We are looking to double this by the end of the year," the spokesman said. "We have contracted to purchase several hundred million pounds of UBC and other aluminum scrap in 2012 and anticipate a minimum 50-percent increase in 2013."....
