NEW YORK — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is being urged by a number of steel-related trade groups to reject a proposed consent decree that would fast-track a national air quality review.
Under the Clean Air Act, the EPA must review national air quality standards for particulate matter every five years. The American Lung Association and the National Parks Conservation Association sued the EPA in February, saying the agency had neglected its duty to conduct such a review.
