Steel buyers trickle back into market

CHICAGO Steel buyers are trickling back into the market as their views on the market for the next three to six months turn slightly more positive.
"I think the market is getting stronger. Summer occurred early. The market started to walk down at the beginning of (the) second quarter and July was ugly," a top executive for a national flat-rolled processor said. But now "the summer slowdown is done."
He was among the distributors, processors and downstream consumers who told AMM on Monday that announced mill price hikes are pulling some buyers off the fence. But they also said that lead times and utilization rates, with few exceptions, havent moved appreciably higher.....
