Chinese steel export tag cuts aim to stir sales

SHANGHAI, China — China’s flat and long steel export prices have eased as steelmakers try to prop up their export business with more competitive offers.

Hot-dipped galvanized base prices drifted to a nine-month low, falling $10 per tonne to a range of $650 to $660 per tonne f.o.b. for late September and early October shipment. This compares with a peak price of $750 to $770 per tonne f.o.b. over the past nine months.....
