Nippon sets up auto JV in Mexico

MEXICO CITY — Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel Corp. has announced the establishment of a joint-venture company in the Mexican state of Guanajuato to build a manufacturing and sales base for automotive steel pipe and tube.

Called Nippon Steel Pipe México, the plant is scheduled to become operational in June 2013 and have a production capacity of 2,000 tonnes per month, with output destined for motorcycles and automobiles, Nippon said. ....
