Conflict scrap rule needed more input: Weidner

MILWAUKEE — Legislators on Capitol Hill did not seek adequate input from the steel industry before proposing to classify steel scrap as a conflict mineral, said Bob Weidner, president, chief executive and secretary of the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI).
"There’s no question that on a human rights issue, people are doing bad things in places like Congo. But that’s not the issue," Weidner told AMM.
