US backs WTO on electrical steel decision

NEW YORK — The United States maintains that the World Trade Organization (WTO) was correct in ruling that China’s imposition of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on shipments of electrical steel into the Asian nation was inconsistent with international obligations.

The 45-page argument, submitted last week by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, alleges that China’s earlier appeal of the ruling was insufficient and does not follow proper interpretation of the law.....
