TransCanada starts Keystone XL in Texas

CHICAGO — TransCanada Corp. has started construction on the southern portion of its planned Keystone XL crude oil pipeline, a company spokesman confirmed Friday.

The Calgary, Alberta-based energy company is currently doing ground clearing, grading and other preliminary work at several locations in southern Texas, the spokesman told AMM.

The $2.3-billion portion of the Keystone XL, which TransCanada refers to as the Gulf Coast Project, will run 485 miles from a crude oil hub in Cushing, Okla., to refineries in Nederland, Texas.....
