PITTSBURGH The police department in Albuquerque, N.M., has shut down five metal recyclers.
Bellitas Recycling, El Rey Metal, J&R Recycling, Omars Recycling and South Valley Metals have been closed following an investigation into the businesses buying practices. Four of them allegedly were using illegal or damaged scales.
After new laws took effect July 1, the local police chief sent a letter to recyclers advising them of the new rules. The letter also warned businesses to expect random compliance checks.....
