US stainless shipments hit low in July: MSCI

NEW YORK — U.S. distributors’ shipments of stainless steel sank to their lowest level this year in July, historically a slow month due to summer vacations and shutdowns.

Shipments of stainless steel products last month totaled 142,400 tons, the latest figures from the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) show, down 3.8 percent from 148,100 tons in June and 9.1 percent below the 156,700 tons shipped in March, the busiest month....
