China’s nonferrous smelting capacity due for more cuts

SHANGHAI, China — China expects to cut more nonferrous metal smelting capacity as it continues to phase out aging production facilities.
Beijing plans to shut down annual production capacity of 56,500 tonnes for lead and 65,000 tonnes for zinc, according to the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
All four of the targeted zinc smelters are in Gansu province. Of the three targeted lead smelters, two are in Hunan province and one is in Sichuan.....
