Rio Tinto Alcan faces labor shortage at Kitimat smelter

NEW YORK Rio Tinto Alcan Inc. is short some 1,500 skilled workers to build its Kitimat smelter in British Columbia and is actively recruiting in Canada.
There are "critical shortages in several of the building trade classifications, including operating engineers, millwrights, cement masons, sheet metal workers, carpenters, bricklayers, iron workers and electricians," according to the website for the companys Kitimat modernization project.....
