Upstate readies entry into export market

PITTSBURGH Upstate Shredding LLC-Ben Weitsman & Son Inc. said it could open a deepwater port facility in New York within six months.
The recyclers entry into the export arena "will change the whole way East Coast scrap is done," president Adam Weitsman told AMM. "This is the most exciting thing that ever happened for our company."
The Albany Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing Sept. 27 on the Owego, N.Y.-based companys request for a special-use permit to open the 18-acre facility at the Port of Albany on the Hudson River. A rail line used by three railroads runs through the yard, which is completely hard-surfaced.....
