KiteGen Research pursues Alcoa’s Portovesme

NEW YORK — KiteGen Research, a wind energy exploration company based in Turin, Italy, has confirmed its interest in Alcoa Inc.’s Portovesme smelter.

KiteGen is the third company to come forward, with Geneva-based commodities investor Klesch Group and Glencore International Plc also eying the 150,000-tonne-per-year smelter on the Italian island of Sardinia.

A KiteGen spokesman told AMM the company expressed interest to both Alcoa and local government officials on Tuesday night. "We’re still waiting for an official response from Alcoa and other parties," he added. ....
