Chinese ferrosilicon prices hit 30-month low

SHANGHAI, China — Chinese ferrosilicon prices hit a 30-month low this week as steelmakers continued to cut their purchase prices.

Transactions for the steelmaking raw material were in the range of 5,800 to 5,950 yuan ($916 to $940) per tonne Thursday, down 50 to 100 yuan ($7.90 to $15.80) from Sept. 7, the lowest level since March 2010. ....
