Steel beam prices cut $15/T as scrap dips

LOS ANGELES A number of wide-flange steel beam mills have joined a $15-per-ton drop in transaction prices, leaving some buyers concerned that recent pricing volatility in the beam market is here to stay for the time being.
Nucor-Yamato Steel Co., Blytheville, Ark., and Nucor Corp.s Berkeley, S.C., beam division appeared to kick-start the move, announcing in a Sept. 13 letter to customers a $28-per-ton reduction in their raw materials surcharge partially offset by a $13-per-ton increase in published base prices, resulting in a $15 cut in transaction prices effective Sept. 14.....
