GM tells suppliers to check for exposure to RG

NEW YORK General Motors Co. is telling parts suppliers to prepare for potential gaps in its supply chain in the wake of RG Steel LLCs bankruptcy filing.
"In light of the recent events involving RG Steel LLC, Sparrows Point, Md., we request that you review your supply chains for exposure to material produced at RG Steel (flat-rolled steel), and for you to determine whether changes are required," a letter to GM suppliers said. The letter requested that suppliers survey their supply chains to determine their usage of RG Steel material in any parts or assemblies that they supply to GM. The Detroit-based automaker has asked suppliers to respond by Sept. 26.....
