CAW reaches tentative labor deal with Ford

CHICAGO — The Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union has made some progress in its contract talks with Detroit’s Big Three automakers, reaching a tentative four-year labor deal with Ford Motor Co. as talks with General Motors of Canada Ltd. and Chrysler Group LLC continue.
The new agreement with Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford, which would expire in September 2016, will return or create hundreds of new jobs, many of them at Ford’s Oakville, Ontario, assembly plant, CAW president Ken Lewenza said at a press conference.
The jobs will come, in part, as a new shift is added to the plant and as work that had been contracted out is brought back, he said.....
