PITTSBURGH Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. is facing the loss of a Hawaiian recycling subsidy as the Honolulu City Council considers a bill that would eliminate the discount.
The bill would terminate a recycling residue discount giving commercial recyclers a 50-percent reduction in tipping fees at city landfills. Tipping fees are currently $81 per ton, according to the bill.....
