PITTSBURGH Proler Steel International and Newell Joint Venture Investments LP are teaming up to open a scrapyard in eastern Texas.
The Proler and Newell names are iconic in Texas recycling. Proler International Corp. was a powerhouse that was sold to Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. in late 1996. The Proler family is recognized for developing and the Newell family for mass-producing the automobile shredder.
Proler Steel International chief executive officer Christopher Proler and Newell Joint Venture Investments chief executive officer John Newell have formed Proler-Newell Recycling LP to open a 30-acre facility in east Texas. The two expect site development to be under way in the fourth quarter and operations to start in early 2013. ....
