Aerospace lead times could start to shorten

NEW YORK The end of the month-and-a-half-long strike at Constelliums Ravenswood, W.Va., rolling mill will stop aerospace alloy lead times from lengthening and could even reduce them by the end of the year, according to service center sources.
The facility, which primarily serves the aerospace industry, has been operating at a reduced rate since some 694 workers went on strike Aug. 5 after the United Steelworkers union failed to reach a new labor agreement (amm.com, Aug. 6).
Union members voted Wednesday to accept the Paris-based companys latest five-year contract offer. Constellium said it will take a week to start equipment but declined to say when the plant will be back at full production. ....
