Nickel premiums could be lower in 2013

NEW YORK — Some market sources are expecting lower contract nickel premiums in 2013 as spot premiums in the domestic market have declined from last year’s levels.

"Hopefully, (contract premiums) will just be marginally lower," one trader said.

Contract premiums for commodity melting grade in 2012 were between 25 and 30 cents per pound (, Oct. 11), with spot premiums for the year averaging 39 cents per pound, according to AMM data.....
