W. Coast structural tubing price outlook shaky

LOS ANGELES — The outlook for structural steel tubing prices has turned bearish on the West Coast, contrasting with the recent success of a regional hike.

Just a few weeks ago, amid signs that a $40-per-ton price hike in early September was holding (amm.com, Aug. 28), most market sources were questioning when mills in the region might try for another increase to catch up with tubing producers east of the Rockies, who had already announced a second round of hikes.....
