NEW YORK — Eight workers at scrap metal operations in South Carolina have been arrested for allegedly violating the state’s nonferrous metal purchasing laws.

Arrests were made at the Rock Hill facilities of Gillis Used Parts Inc., OmniSource Corp., Smith Metal & Iron Co., T.H. Snipes & Sons Inc. and Palmetto Recycling LLC, which is located at the same address as Carolina Salvage. ....
