CAW ratifies Ford pact, hopeful on Chrysler

CHICAGO Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union members have ratified a new labor contract with Ford Motor Co.
The new collective agreement, which runs until Sept. 19, 2016, was approved by 82 percent of members on Sunday after weekend voting in Brampton, Hamilton and Windsor, Ontario.
The union said the deal, reached with Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford on Sept. 17, served as a framework for talks with General Motors Co., Detroit, and Chrysler Group LLC, Auburn Hills, Mich.
"This new agreement will ensure that our facilities are well-positioned for a strong future in the North American auto industry," CAW president Ken Lewenza said in a statement Sunday.....
