Thinner Mexico wire rod won’t escape US duties

NEW YORK — The Commerce Department has ruled that imports of 4.75-millimeter wire rod from Mexico are subject to the same dumping duties as 5-mm material, sources told AMM Tuesday.

Parties were notified of the final results Tuesday afternoon, and an official Federal Register announcement is expected later this week.

"The department’s decision today is an important step in ensuring the effective application of the dumping order on wire rod from Mexico," said Alan Price, partner at Wiley Rein LLP and counsel to Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corp. and McMinnville, Ore.-based Cascade Steel Rolling Mills Inc. "We are pleased with the department’s determination today, which ended circumvention of this order." ....
