US steel imports slide 10.9% in August

NEW YORK U.S. steel imports fell 10.9 percent in August from the previous month, led by a 40.4-percent plunge in hot-rolled sheet.
One trader told AMM this week that demand for imported products had slowed substantially due to slumping domestic prices.
Steel products arriving at U.S. ports totaled nearly 2.25 million tonnes last month, according to preliminary Census Bureau data, down from Julys final figure of 2.52 million tonnes, although up 0.5 percent from 2.23 million tonnes in August last year.....
