Magnesium stalls in run-up to mating season

NEW YORK — Spot magnesium business has come to a standstill this month, just before the start of mating season.

"Demand is slow. Sellers are not trying to sell anything because they’re afraid the price will go down. And buyers are waiting for the prices to go down, so they’re not initiating transactions. Everyone’s hoping prices will go their way," a consumer told AMM. "There will be activity between now and year’s end, of course."

"No one’s rushing to do anything," a supplier agreed. "Prices have basically been stable." ....
